I wish people would actually read the letter before jumping on Apple's back! It clearly states: "While Apple, of course, has no general objection to proper use of the descriptive term podcast as part of a trademark for goods and services in the podcast field...."

For the love of God, will they please fix the bug that causes any wall, photo, or comment posts to slow to a crawl if you haven't reinstalled the Facebook app in some time.
Any one else notice this?
Example: I restore my iPhone. Facebook runs like a sprint horse fresh out of the gate. Posting status updates, wall comments, photo comments, friend requests, etc.. are all snappy. Then after about a week things start taking longer to post. The spinner lasts much longer on the screen. Then by week 4, trying to post a simple status update cripples the app to the point that you have to hit the Home button on the iPhone. Meanwhile, even though your spinner is processing, that status update has already updated on their servers for others to see.
Excellent description of the problem! I also submitted this as a bug in the app store. I guess time will show if they've fixed it in the latest version.

So a 17 year old can do it but a gigantic company with $50 billion lying there can't. Seems logical to me.
Wake up Steve. Seriously.
Don't fault apple for insisting that the white iPhone parts match perfectly.
You can bet that if the suppliers could make parts to apples standards, then apple would sell white iPhone.
If someone does a conversion and then has minor issues such as light leak and parts not matching 100%, they will most likely put up wih it.
If apple sold white iphones with the same issues, it would be a disaster and a public relations nightmare. So many people who read these forums complain about things so minor, and yet they will put second rate parts on their iPhones and be happy with them.
I don't blame apple one bit for scrubbing the white iPhone.
Go figure!

When the hell is Apple going to seed leopard to us select developers? Also an update of the WWDC videos would be nice. It sucks when you get hospitalized and can't recover in TIME to go to WWDC.
Why are you asking here? Why not call Apple developer relations and ask them?
It annoys me that I pay for this treatment, yet Microsoft is more than happy to release all kinds of pre beta stuff to me just for signing up as a developer.
Microsoft is also more than happy to charge through the teeth for decent developer tools too.

If you want just the email account then yes, .Mac is not worth it. That's the point. .Mac is more than email, and if you want an email address, get Gmail and hook it up into Mail.app....
Are you saying you're happy it costs $99? You don't want to pay less, no? The more complaining and bad feedback we give Apple that this service is simply too expensive the better, and the better chance we have they will begin to pay attention to loads (http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=.Mac%20too%20expensive&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8) of posts/blogs/and stories on this. I feel sick when I have to tell someone how much it costs. I mean they say .Mac syncing is included! You have to pay to sync computers that you payed money for, and worse still you have to give it to the company you bought the computers from?? Give me a break! GMail is free too. iWeb provides little bandwidth, and the whole this is wrapped-up with a tiny storage package. And I don't think the solution is for Apple to give us more storage. I would prefer a cheaper price to more storage any-day. If you want moe storage then you pay $99, otherwise this should cost no more than $49 per year. At the VERY MOST!!

Just my thoughts.
I think some of you are confused as to what Carrier preferences means. Its not saying anything about which iPad is selling better. All it says is which iPad people would like to have. It doesnt even mean which they do have. (AT&T iPad owner might want the Verizon one because of the bad service). So a AT&T iPad user may show under the Verizon numbers. Also its no shock the AT&T iPad is harder to acquire. Its most likely due to customers being use to the company. (example: mom buying her son an ipad will go to AT&T if they have AT&T phones.)
Remember a good deal of iPhone customers are still AT&T customers. So when they bought their iPad why not just by the AT&T one. So since the mass I users are already with AT&T it only makes sense that that iPad would sell better. Also understand that not all AT&T customers hate AT&T.

Glad to see Apple's share is increasing
Everyone deserves to use a Mac (if they choose too)
and the more Macs around the more people will see them
they more they see. the more they are aware of them.

I do now, for some reason it takes me a while to understand when I look at it.
i think those stats are pretty good. nothing is perfect, but they seem to work for me.
Ha ha, yes we could use some more folders.
yeah the more the better right now. and i finally got my other system up!

Also, oopsie hardware releases aside, how would a "supposedly" early software build of iOS5 end up in the prototype phone of some guy in South East Asia? Hardware production is outsourced to Asia, yes, but software would be held pretty damn closely. Maybe I'm wrong?
BS- IMHO this is a shamster.

I will buy an 11" once it has:
-Thunderbolt
-i5/i7 CPU with AES-NI
-option for 200+ GB drive
Would be supremely delighted if it also has:
-battery life approaching that of the 13"
-SDXC slot
-8GB RAM option

I thought you described yourself as an anarchist. What's your definition of an anarchist? Someone who supports a lot of state control?
Anarchism is as much about abolishing capitalism as it is about abolishing the state. I am also practical in that I can separate what I consider ideal, from it is a practical reality given the current situation. Funny how you intentionally distracted from the fact that the cuts are about ideology and have nothing to do with the budget.
The state is, at least to a certain degree, accountable to some semblance of democratic control (as problematic as it may be), corporations are inherently undeomocratic institutions by design. I will also always put the working class above the haves and the corporate fat cats.

I would hope that the unit would at least cache the download map tiles.
I wonder how well it will work on an iPad?

The code behind that arrow is the same as the arrow we saw pointing down after the 1 place drop for the team.
I'll check it out...
Still very strange though.

Why is everyone ragging on Facebook for this?
It's not as if they invented it.
Foursquare, Loopt and Gowalla have had these types of apps for many many months.

Does anyone know if the new Holiday Justin Long commercials will be advertised? If I remember correctly, the Will Ferrell ones were just online and not on any TV. At least not that I saw.
While I do enjoy debate (not argument) on religion, can we please move it out of this thread? I've created a new one where you can move the discussion to, if you would be so kind:

Yes, I agree. I'll move over... ;)
P.S. Is there a moderator out there that could move all the posts over??

I'm interested in this type of application to help keep track of my kids when they're out and about.
I've found some other great tracking options for the young ones at: http://www.iphoneandkids.com/2010/12/child-tracking-apps-.html
