I am new member and will appreciate anybody clarifies my concerns regarding my I-485 filed on july 2nd.
My employer asked me to send my 485 application directly to NSC instead of attorney Since there was a wide spread rumor last month( june ) end that USCIS going to accept the applications that are going reach them only on July 2nd and I did exactly the same thing. NSC received my application by July 2 at 7:30am.
I properly signed my set of applications (485,765,131,134,325a,g28) and my wife did the same with her set.
I didn't give attorney info on any of the applications except on G-28 FORM.
BUT there is no attorney signature on G-28 FORM since I filed on my own and Is going to create any problem, I mean is there any possibility that USCIS GOING to reject My application? Your help greatly appreciated.

i woudl think the actual number porting is miniscule...
but what i dont understand is why is USCIS hiding the data..why cant they reveal the exact number of application... and at what stage they?

Oh yeah , talk about that, there were few posts few months ago, that the great uscis had 4-5 diconnected databases and hence they had some project they were planning to centralize their dbs so as to arrive at a number.
Now God only knows how that project is going on (as per schedule), only after that is done can we know the exact number........
Comon USCIS hire some h1b's these guys will work their ass off to finish the project on time....

Online tracking or toll-free numbers tracking is really useless. It doesnt say much about the content of correspondence.
The automated messages(online and phone) say one of the 5-6 standard recorded messages. Nothing more. If there is an RFE, its says there was an "Inquiry". It doesnt say what the RFE was about whehter it was about the beneficiary or the employer. If you talk to a live person, they say that you are not entitled to information as you are the beneficiary and you need to talk to the petitioner or lawyer of the petitioner.
What you need is COPIES of everything that the lawyer sends out to USCIS. Preferably BEFORE he sends out that fedex. So that you can verify yourself if they have made typos or mistakes in names, dates, etc.(most common paperwork errors).

I think the Biometrics fee should be covered....when we applied online...the biometrics fee was part of the entire AP fee...we didn't pay a separate fee. Sounds like a good idea...for those of us who missed the summer 2007 bus, this may be the only way of getting to an EAD status in the near future, going by the recent Visa bulletins and retrogression of EB2 & non-availability of EB3 year-round.
I am thinking to start solid campaign for EAD and AP when pre filling for 485. Its in very begining stage. Once I get how many can join hand we can start a funding drive and some aggressive campaign for it. DHS and DOL are studing how to resolve this on going problem for Highly Skilled immigrants.at the end of day admin may come with pre filling for highly skilled.

I am July 23rd concurent Filer (Texas service Center), day before yesterday received FP notice but no other reciepts. wrote email to Lawyer to update.
Guys, According to following URL, it seems that all july filers should get the RN by now irrespective of the processing centers. I am 24th July filer but still did not get the RNs so far. Are other ppl also in same boat? Please let me know. I am worried now.

We invited our in-laws last September and it was not easy for them to get the visa in the first interview. They got denied with the reason 214(b) without verifying any Indian documents. Infact, my father-in-law was a government servant and he was still employed at the time of interview. My wife was on EAD and I was on H1-B and I was inviting my in-laws to USA.
We then asked a letter from the senate's office requesting the visa officer to issue them visa and explained that they have strong ties with family members back in India and have bank balance and property. It was surprise that nothing was asked in the second interview and they could get a 10 years multiple entry visa. This time my wife invited her parents.
In all this, we wasted time, money and were very tensed since my wife's due date was approaching and it was only a month far.

I'd like to know if any of you invited your parents while on AOS. Last time I invited my in-laws I had H1-B et al....now we are on AOS and my wife is sponsoring her parents. We are on AOS. I do not have a job currently so I can't get an EVL and my wife has and she is inviting and the I-134 is also from her...we have EADs valid till late 2010....she had her F1 valid till Oct 2009 but she is working on dependent EAD.
So do you think there could be any potential problem.....Last time I had sponsored my in-laws but they were questioned a lot at the embassy....so now my wife will be sponsoring ...I hope there are no potential problems.
Path 2 USA do not mention anything special for EADs/AOS et al....

to be fair to USCIS they did try to get out of the fiasco on july 1 by moving the dates back again Eventually they were forced to accept it again..
They clearly knew this was cash cow so why did they want to cancel it in the first place..
Its a lot of money and its definitely a lot of work as well..There are also no signs of hiring new stafff..most of extra cash they getting is being pumped into other gov projects so the staff is still being overworked and I am sure will be complaning

For the record, that did seem to help and can be credited (at least partially) for the reversal of USCIS' stated position during the July '02 visa bulletin fiasco. It also brought IV and our issues a fair amount of publicity.
It's easy to be an armchair critic... at least IV as an organization does something. :)
Regardless, if you have any creative suggestions, feel free to post.

If you are lazy (like I am right now), you could just create an owl smiley and have the tag name by "O' RLY"! That way you won't have to fret about getting the owl's expression just right in the tiny < 20 pixel per side area!

I recently travelled to India via Munich on Lufthansa. I was told by my ticketing agent that I will need a German transit visa. I looked at the info. on German constulate's website and did some reasearch, I didn't need one.
I suggest, you get one to be on the safer side. For other readers, if you are on H1B and if your transit time is 2 to 3 hours and you travel on the same airlines (there are other issues e.g. the terminal is same etc.), than you don't need a transit visa but always call in and check with the appropriate constulate.
