I received our receipts (I-485 for my husband and mine). Under section: unknown. I do not know why it should be this. My NIW I-140 approved March/2006 in NSC. ANyone has same experience? I call USCIS, they do not know either. Ask me go to local office.:confused::confused:

What happened in 2007 is now history. That is not likely to repeat in the upcoming CIR. At this time CIR is the only way to get things moving. Unless CIR is defeated or unless administration says that they do not want a CIR bill, piece meal approach is not likely to happen. Given the situation, asking for a separate bills is setting ourselves for failure, and it alienates us and our issues from the pro-immigration community. At this time, if you call/meet with lawmakers asking for EB only bill, the pro-immigration lawmakers get turned off and anti-immigrant lawmakers use the count of your call to oppose the immigration reform. At this time its a bad idea by calling lawmakers asking for "EB only bill". It will only turn out to hurt our issues and the cause. Additionally, it doesn't help to call specific lawmakers who already understand, agree, support and champion our issues.
IV do not have a any position on on the issue of illegals/undocumented. And whatever is your personal belief, please understand the reality of the situation and refrain from attacking illegals on IV forums as it doesn't help our cause in anyways.

I am in same position you are in..i have applied for an extension for my mother in law for another 6 months ...it's been 5 months still waiting for approval...but i took a chance and made my mothe in-law stay back based on pending approval...its your call how bad you need your monther in-law's help during your daughter's treatment..if possible take the letter form doctors office that your daughter is sick and you need her help in this hard times and attach this letter with you extension application.. this will help for extension..this is what i did..

After a few years, I liked the way of life and wanted it to continue forever. But I could not continue this unless I get this thing called greencard, which let me stay for as long as I wanted and work anywhere I wanted. In those days due to many reasons and problems it was very difficult to get one. But I was patient and kept waiting.
There were a group of people who wanted to get together and solve the problems so that the wait time is eliminated. They knew how to get a solution to my problems of getting the greencard sooner. But they needed help from everyone like me so that we could get solve our problems.
At one point, they wanted people like me to go to the capital and talk to different people who had the power to solve our problems. This would help them understand the issues faced by people like me and help address them.
But at that time, I had other things to do and knew that there are others who would chip in and work together and solve this problem.
But nothing changed.
There was no end in sight and eventually what was a pleasant life started turning bad due to various rules being enacted to push people like me away. They succeeded and I left America.
After I had to leave america, I came back to this country and had a decent life. But I still liked my life in america and I wanted to live there. But I could not achieve that dream.
When I thought about what went wrong, I realized that the reason is I did not see the opportunity that presented itself to me - To join others and work together to resolve my problems.
I thought someone else would do the work. Maybe others thought the same way too. So eventually there was not a huge crowd explaining our problems. So it was not seen as a serious issue and so nothing was addressed.
When I think back now, if I had seen the opportunity and united with others like me, I would have got what I wanted.

Yes, if the I-140 has been approved, your brother is entitled to use the 2007 PD on any subsequent I-140.

I am specifically interested in getting media mileage out of this. I feel, you can get media mileage, if the media is alerted before hand, otherwise 50-60-100 or 200 boukets of flowers by itself wont be enough to get attention.
Iv has not endorsed it, probably because we have been trying to get serious media attention, and we have not gotten as much as we would like. If you are going with this flower idea - Make sure you get some reporters already involved, otherwise wont be worth it. (My take).

apart from all above there is a risk in going to Canada or Mexico for stamping. If you dont get visa in Mexico, you need to go back to home country to get visa.
I just entered 7th year, applied for H1 extension, not sure to go to Canada or wait for trip to Home country :(

First of all, all these indians you see are a miniscule numbers. dont look at the %age out of 140K GC visas. Look at the numbre compared to the total india population. There are around 3 million indians in US, including the citizens, gcs and h1bs, business and touirist and f1s and h4s and l1s and the other visas which i know but do not know their names.
Compare 3 million to the 1.15 Billion population. You calculate the %age.
Compare that to the other countries who are trying to immigrate. Yes we are proud of our culture. Its one of the best. Ofcourse I am trying to fugure out the the other best.
And the person who is trying to immigrate, has nothing to do with his/her culture.
No offence intended, If India is the best country in the world with its "wonderful" cultures why are there so many Indians hell bent on getting the Green Card? Waiting so many years painfully? Why not just return home and live in "best place on earth"? Why would you want to turn America into India? It is good to respect your host country's culture. They are not perfect and so also are many other countries. Please let's call a spade a spade and nothing else.
Having said that, this article reminds us that the debate should be: What group of people does America need to allow into this country on a permanent basis? (Emphasis on permanent basis). Aged parents of US citizens or long time resident and highly skilled immigrants?
If I had a chance to write this part of the immigration law, I would stop a system where US citizens can file green cards for sibblings and parents. I would however, make it almost automatic for parents of citizens/green card holders to be granted 5 to 10 year visitor visas. I dont expect my parents who are in their 60s to move to the US. To do what at that age?? I cant sit at home with them... they will just be lonely!!
I would also stop the green card lottery program. The freed up green quota from these two groups I will move to long time LEGAL residents (say 5 years or 10 years) who have been paying taxes, working and contributing to the economy.

My mother-in-law is coming to US on 2nd Dec on a one-way ticket, she will be going back around March 09 i.e. in almost 4 months.
As we dont know abt the dates as such of return so we have booked a one-way ticket from India to US.
Will there be any problem due to that at port of entry?
Do she also need to carry travel insurance along with her?

There are good amount of chances (intend to immigrate) at port.

I dont think so there is any wait period. I asked them after a year and they said OK we can do this. As per the admin - If I would have told them earlier they could have started much earlier. I did not ask them due to bad economy in late 2008-2009

So you still wait in line... Only gain is that the bar for labor is slightly lower because the employer has to show that they hired the best guy for the job as opposed to showing that no minimally qualified American citizen was available. ;)
